Race Report: Cherry Pie

Takin' that Roundabout with my girl May! Photo by: Christina Melnarik

Cherry Pie was a blast. I felt far less nervous and way more ready than the previous weekend. Unfortunately history did repeat itself and Hanna Meugge broke away and lapped the field. When I tell you this girl is strong, I mean it felt like homegirl took off, went to lunch, took a nap, then found us and passed us again. I was half expecting her to start singing "I Slay, I Slay, I Slay, I Slay" while she was lapping us. She didn't. I can't decide if i'm dissapointed about that or not.

Either way, if we don't talk about the fact that she was even in our race, it was an experience in itself navigating the rest of the ladies. We experimented with a few things. First trying to catch Hanna, then trying to make a few moves to see if we could get one of our girls to start a second break. There were some inklings of success, but nothing stuck. It was still a blast trying new things and discovering where we were strong, and where we needed work as a team.

An attempt at a break. We caught em by surprise. It was fun while it lasted.  Photo by Christina Melnarik

It's going to be so incredible once we really get grasp of how we ride as a unit. I'm glad to be a part of it. Ah, yes of course. When I took my bike to the shop on friday, the mechanic informed me that "one of these days" my shifter was going to just stop working mid ride. lol. That day was Sunday, in the middle of my race. Luckily I have an amazing friend who's already sending me a replacement. I am one lucky lady! On to the next!
